What goes wrong
Locks fail in a small number of ways, and in an emergency those failures look loud. A key can snap off in a cylinder, a deadbolt can fail to retract because the bolt is binding, a latch can jam after the door swells, or a lock can be damaged in a forced entry. Electronic keypads and fob systems also fail, dead batteries, failed control modules, or worn actuators. We see these problems at houses and small businesses in Berwyn and nearby communities, and we treat the specific fault rather than guessing at it.

What the job involves
When we arrive we diagnose the mechanism: whether the problem is a broken key, a stripped tailpiece, a seized cylinder, a warped latch, or an electrical fault in a keypad or smart lock. We prefer non-destructive entry when the hardware allows: picking or manipulating latches and removing broken key fragments. When parts are beyond serviceable condition we remove and replace cylinders, swap locksets, install a reinforced strike, or rekey a lock. We can also program or replace fob and keypad modules where the unit is repairable.

Good to know
If you call, tell us what happened, where the key is if it broke off, and whether the door or frame looks damaged. Have a photo of the lock or keypad ready on your phone if you can; for vehicle lockouts have the registration and your ID accessible. Keep the area around the door clear so we can work, and if you’re inside stay somewhere safe and keep doors locked until we arrive. We’ll tell you the earliest arrival we can offer when you call, and we drive out from Havertown.

Worth knowing
Emergency work can be either minimally invasive or require hardware replacement depending on what we find. A seized cylinder sometimes frees with lubrication and manipulation, but a badly scored cylinder or a lock with bent internal parts needs replacement; we fit solid cylinders, full-throw deadbolts, and stronger strikes when that’s the safer choice. For electronic units we test power and the control board, swap batteries, and replace modules as needed. We cut, pin and test keys on site and leave the mechanism operating correctly before we go, whether the job is at a house in Berwyn or a shop near Devon or Chesterbrook.
