What goes wrong
We get calls when a cylinder has sheared, a deadbolt tailpiece has snapped, keys have bent off in a lock, or an entire lockset has been forced out of its door. On entry locks we see broken keys, worn tumblers, seized cylinders and misaligned latches, and on garage or gate locks we find worn keyways and stiff cylinders. We drive out from Havertown to Easttown Township and bring the tools to deal with the actual parts: plug extractors, pinning kits, hardened replacement cylinders, and reinforcement plates for strikes.

What the job involves
When we open a stuck door we work to preserve the existing hardware unless replacement is necessary. That can mean decoding the lock and rekeying the cylinder, extracting and reshaping a broken key, or removing a mortise or bored lockset and fitting a new unit on the existing door prep. For reinforced doors we use long-throw deadbolts with a reinforced strike or install a full-frame reinforcement if the wood around the jamb is crushed. We explain the mechanical condition and show you the damaged parts before any parts are swapped.

Good to know
While you wait, clear the area around the door and, if possible, move vehicles or other items away from any swing path so we can work safely. If you have spare keys, the make or an existing key blank, or the make of a lockset from the packaging, have those ready; that speeds choosing a compatible cylinder or keyway. If a lock has a visible model number or brand stamp, note that for us. For apartment or shared entrances, have proof that you live at that address available to confirm authorization before we start work.

Worth knowing
We handle emergency lock problems in Easttown Township and nearby places like Berwyn and Devon, focusing on the mechanics not the signage. We keep a stock of common replacement cores, tubular cylinders, heavy-duty deadbolts, and turnout latches so we can match the hardware on-site when a swap is needed. If a door frame is split or the strike is ripped out, we bring reinforcement plates and longer screws so the strike has solid material to hold, then fit the lock so it works with the reinforced opening. We always tell callers what we need from them and what we plan to do next.
