The buildings and the hardware
The built environment in many properties affects the hardware you’ll find. Older doors often still use mortise or rim-style locks and have wider gaps or warped frames that require longer screws or reinforced strikeplates; replacement sometimes means fitting a new latch and altering the faceplate. Newer homes tend to use bored cylindrical locks, deadbolts, and surface-mounted electronic locks, so we carry the punch plates, latches, and trim kits to match. Small commercial or farm buildings bring their own issues (keyed-alike systems, heavy-duty exit hardware, or storage doors that need different fasteners), and we pick hardware to match the door construction rather than guessing.
