The buildings and the hardware
The buildings in this area mean a lot of older-style mechanical hardware alongside more modern installs. Many houses have solid wood doors with mortise locks or standard deadbolts; older doors sometimes use rim locks or vintage mortise sets that need custom-fit replacement parts or careful cylinder removal. Where there are small multiunit buildings or rental properties you’ll see more keyed-alike setups and less robust knobs, so rekeys and upgrades are common. Commercial storefronts typically use aluminum-framed doors with narrow stile exit hardware and commercial-grade cylindrical or mortise locks, which require different tools and different replacement parts than a residential deadbolt.
