What goes wrong
We work on the usual residential failures: deadbolts that shear at the cylinder, knob sets with stripped spindle holes, latch bolts that foul in a warped jamb, and electronic locks with worn connectors or corroded battery contacts. Often the problem is visible: a split faceplate, a bent tailpiece, a cylinder that spins in its housing, and sometimes it’s internal wear you only see once the lock is disassembled. In West Grove we diagnose whether parts can be re-used, need replacement, or require a new, secure mounting surface.

What the job involves
When we come out from Havertown we carry common cylinders, tubular latches, and several styles of strike plates so we can fit what the door needs on site. The work involves removing the trim, inspecting the bore, checking the door’s reveal and swing, and fitting a strike that pulls tight into the frame. If a deadbolt has a long throw we check the receiver and reinforce with screws into solid wood or through-bolt backing. We test the lock under normal operation before we close up.

Good to know
While you wait at home we suggest staying nearby but out of the immediate work area so we can access both sides of the door and the frame. If you have small children or pets, keep them in another room; if you need to be present for key duplication or to choose a finish, have a comfortable spot to sit and the door you want worked on unlocked for us. If it’s an electronic or keypad unit, have any existing programming codes or the backup battery type handy so we can confirm wiring and power without guessing.

Worth knowing
For replacements and upgrades we talk plainly about the components: whether a bolt is solid or hollow, whether a strike is thin stamped metal or a heavy forged plate, whether the cylinder is rim-mounted or mortise. We fit long screws through the strike into solid backing when the frame allows, and we install plated trim or stainless levers to match the door prep. We handle rekeying by removing the plug, inspecting wafers or pins, and cutting new keys to match the new pinning. If you’re in London Grove Township, Avondale, or nearby and want us to come to your home in West Grove, call and we’ll tell you when we can drive out from Havertown.
