What goes wrong
Homes call us when a deadbolt sticks, a knob cylinder spins without catching, or a mortise lock refuses to retract. We see swollen wooden doors binding a latch, rusted bolts that won't move, and split keys stuck in cylinders. We describe hardware by how it behaves: seized tumblers, broken spindles, worn tailpieces, or strikes pulled away from the jamb. When a lock fails we assess the cylinder, the bolt, the strike plate and the door fit, then decide whether repair, rekey, or replacement of the whole lock body is the correct fix.

What the job involves
We travel from Havertown to the job in a van stocked with cylinders, latches, deadbolts, key blanks, and the cutting and rekeying gear we need. On arrival we lay out tools, remove trim to inspect internal parts, check tailpiece engagement, and test door alignment against the strike. If a key is broken we extract the fragment, examine the remaining teeth, then cut and pin a new key to match or alter the shear line as required. We install reinforced strikes and longer screws where the jamb needs support.

Good to know
While you wait at the house we suggest standing clear of the work area and keeping pets and children out of the swing path of the door. If you have current keys bring them so we can compare wear patterns; if you don’t, tell us how many keys you want and whether other locksets in the house should work with the same key. For jobs in Phoenixville we often need access to the internal side of the door, so have a reachable light source and a clear floor area where we can place parts and tools without blocking the entrance.

Worth knowing
For security upgrades we can fit deadbolts with a long throw, install multi-point latches on exterior doors, or replace worn knobsets with a solid, forged deadbolt and matching strike reinforced with long screws. We rekey locksets when homeowners change tenants or lose keys, and we can cut and code new keys on site. If you live near Spring City or Upper Providence Township and need multiple doors keyed alike, tell us which doors and show us the existing hardware so we can match sizes and tailpiece lengths before we start.
