What goes wrong
We work on the kinds of problems homeowners call about: snapped keys in mortise cylinders, latch bolts that no longer reach a reinforced strike, warped door edges that bind deadbolts, and worn knob or lever sets that spin without engaging. For many doors we remove the trim, inspect the cylinder and bolt assembly, and decide whether to rekey, replace the cylinder, or fit a stronger, longer-throw deadbolt. In older frames we commonly install a steel strike plate or add wood reinforcement so the bolt has solid backing.

What the job involves
If you’re locked out we pick the non-destructive options first: manipulating the core, bypassing a latch with tools, or using a plug follower to remove a cylinder so you can get back inside without ruining the door. If the lock is damaged beyond practical repair we’ll swap in a new cylinder or whole lock body and cut a key on site. We carry common key blanks, replacement cylinders, and several knob and deadbolt styles so we can complete most jobs at the door.

Good to know
While you wait it helps if you know which door and which key are the problem, whether the key broke off, whether the lock feels sticky or loose, and if the door has visible damage to the frame or strike. Have identification and proof of residence ready so we can confirm access and ownership at the start. We drive out from Havertown and arrive with the tools and parts we need to examine the lock, but if someone else has duplicate keys or a spare cylinder tucked away, telling us that on the phone can speed the repair once we’re at your house.

Worth knowing
We service houses throughout New Garden Township and nearby towns when residents need a lock change after moving, want keyed-alike cylinders for multiple doors, or want to upgrade to a sturdier deadbolt and hardened strike. For homes with glass panels or shallow stiles we explain the trade-offs: shorter bolts and smaller cylinders may fit but offer less resistance to forced entry, so we suggest alternatives that work with your door construction. We communicate the work plan and the options before we start so you know exactly which parts we’ll replace and why.
