What goes wrong
A door that won't open can be a handful of different failures: a key that snaps off down the cylinder, a deadbolt that drags because the strike has pulled away from the jamb, a latch that won't retract, or hardware bent by a forced entry. We handle those situations the same way we handle any emergency call in New Garden Township: by first finding what has actually failed. We look at the key, the cylinder, the bolt and the strike, and decide whether we can extract and repair the existing parts or need to replace them on the spot.

What the job involves
When we come out from Havertown we bring the tools and parts to do the job where the lock is. That can mean picks and extractor tools for a broken key, a key machine and blank keys, or a replacement cylinder with new pins. We prefer non-destructive entry when possible; if drilling is the only option we explain why and what we will swap in afterward. We also handle commercial door hardware (panic bars, mortise locks and reinforced strikes) reassembling and aligning components so the bolt runs cleanly.

Good to know
While you wait, the safest things to do are to keep a clear area and not try to force the door with a pry bar or screwdriver. If you have a working spare key, keep it handy but don’t jam it into a damaged cylinder. If the door was forced, move people away from the immediate entry point and gather any photos you might use for an insurance claim. When you call, we’ll tell you how soon we can be there and what to expect; we stick to what we can actually do on site rather than promising a flashy response.

Worth knowing
Have these items ready to speed the process: a form of photo ID and proof of ownership for the property or vehicle, any spare keys you have, and the make and model for a vehicle lockout if it’s not obvious. If a lock is failing repeatedly, photograph the jamb and the lock face to show wear patterns. We work across Chester County and bring replacement cylinders, hardened screws, long-throw bolts and reinforced strikes so most repairs are completed right where the lock is. We focus on clear diagnosis and on repairing or replacing only what the hardware actually needs.
