What goes wrong
We handle emergency lock problems that leave you standing at a door that won't open, a broken key stuck in a cylinder, or a damaged deadbolt that won't latch. In Kennett Square we see a lot of split keys, seized cylinders, bent tailpieces, and doors with strikes pulled out of the frame. We work on knobs, levers, mortise locks, deadbolts and padlocks, and we replace or repair the actual mechanical parts: cylinders, tailpieces, boltwork and reinforced strikes. Every repair happens where the lock is; we bring the tools and parts to your door.

What the job involves
When you call, tell us exactly what failed and what kind of door and lock you have: wood or metal, single or double door, inward or outward swing, and whether the lock is keyed on one or both sides. If a key is stuck, leave it where it is; if a lock is visibly broken, don’t try to force it. While we drive out from Havertown, make sure the area around the door is clear and that someone can open it for us if access is possible from another side.

Good to know
On arrival we assess the mechanism and decide whether to repair the cylinder, extract a broken key, realign and reinforce the strike, or replace the whole lock. Extraction often requires a clamp, picks and extraction tools; cylinder work can mean swapping to a new core or rekeying the existing one; door repair may require new screws that go into the framing. We explain the mechanical options in plain language and show you the part that needs replacing before we proceed.

Worth knowing
For the best outcome have identification and proof of ownership ready if the door is to a business or rented unit, and any previous key codes or paperwork if you have them. If the lock is on a multiunit or commercial property let us know who is authorized to approve work. We also recommend having a spare key plan and noting whether the door has extra hardware like a reinforced plate, long-throw deadbolt or security bar so we can bring the right parts. We cover Kennett Township and nearby towns such as New Garden Township when responding to emergencies.
