What goes wrong
Keys break, locks stick, cylinders shear and people get shut out. We handle common emergency failures: snapped key stuck in a pin tumbler, a deadbolt thrown against a warped jamb, a knobset with a stripped spindle, or an electronic keypad that refuses to accept codes. We describe what failed in plain terms so you know what we’ll be looking at: the cylinder, the tailpiece, the strike, the bolt face, the keyway and any visible damage to the door or frame. In East Marlborough Township we see the same mechanical patterns and prepare accordingly.

What the job involves
When we work on an emergency lock we first confirm ownership or authorization and then diagnose what the hardware needs. We pick or manipulate non-destructive where possible, extract broken keys with proper tools, replace cylinders or rekey cores, and repair or replace latch assemblies and reinforced strikes. If a mortise or heavy deadbolt is involved we check the bolt length and strike alignment before we proceed. We carry common cylinder lengths, tailpieces and replacement knobs so we can finish the repair on site when feasible.

Good to know
While you wait, clear the area around the door and turn any porch or hallway lights on so we can see the lock from both sides. If there are pets or children, secure them away from where we are working. Have identification and proof of residency or authorization ready; for rental units, have your lease or a landlord contact available. If there’s an existing spare key, locate it and bring it out. We drive out from Havertown and use what’s at hand first, then install new parts if the old components are damaged.

Worth knowing
Emergency calls often lead into follow-up work: resizing a strike plate, fitting longer screws into the jamb, swapping a hollow knob for a forged lever, or installing a reinforced strike and deadbolt to reduce repeat failures. We explain the physical fixes (longer screws to reach solid stud, a thicker strike to resist pry, a solid-machined cylinder to resist extraction), so you know why we recommend a part. If you’re near Kennett Square or Pocopson Township and want to prevent another failure, we’ll tell you which components to watch and what a replacement will actually do for the door.
