What goes wrong
Homes in Mount Airy call us when doors stop latching, key cylinders stick, or deadbolts refuse to turn. We see a lot of worn pin stacks, bent keyways, and stripped tailpieces in older mortise locks as well as failing spring assemblies in cylindrical latchsets. Sometimes the strike has pulled away from the frame; other times a hardened key has sheared off in the cylinder. We carry replacement cylinders, mortise sets, deadbolts, reinforced strikes, and keys cut on site so we can match the hardware that’s already on the door.

What the job involves
When we arrive we inspect the door, frame, and lockset to find the failure mode before choosing a repair path. That may mean rekeying a cylinder to new cuts, swapping a deadbolt for a long-throw bolt, reinforcing the strike with longer screws, or disassembling a mortise to replace a broken cam or spring. We can change a worn cylinder to one that accepts a new set of keys, and we cut and check keys on our truck. We explain the work and the hardware options before we begin.

Good to know
If you’re waiting for us, stay by a secure door or inside the house and have proof of residency or ownership ready so we can verify authorization on arrival. For apartment residents, we may need a building manager or landlord to allow access to common-area doors. If you can, clear space around the entry and remove hanging objects from the doorknob so we can set up a small work area. Keep any damaged keys, broken blades, or the old cylinder available for inspection; that helps us identify the problem faster.

Worth knowing
We drive out from Havertown and work across Philadelphia neighborhoods including Mount Airy and nearby Germantown when requested. For lock upgrades we can show you options such as a longer-throw deadbolt, a reinforced strike plate with through-bolts, or a tight cylinder with a different key profile. We also handle mailbox locks, interior latch adjustments, and window locks. If you have an unusual mechanism, keep photos and any spare keys handy so we can evaluate parts to bring with us on the truck.
