What goes wrong
We handle emergency lock problems that leave a door unusable or a key stuck in metal. Typical calls are broken keys in mortise cylinders, deadbolts that have sheared off at the turn, latch mechanisms jammed by a swollen wood door, and locksets with stripped internal gears. When we arrive in East Coventry Township we assess the cylinder, the strike plate, and the door edge to decide whether to extract and rekey the cylinder, replace the lock body, or rebuild the mechanism on site. We carry common cylinders, thumbturns, and reinforced strikes for immediate repair.

What the job involves
If a key snaps or the lock won’t turn, keep the scene safe and avoid forcing the cylinder. For interior lock problems, unlock any secondary doors and move children and pets away from the work area. If you’re outside and locked out, check for any open windows or alternate entrances and have photo ID ready so we can confirm you have right of access. We’ll explain the physical steps we plan to take before we start and what parts we expect to use.

Good to know
We drive out from Havertown with hand tools and replacement parts sized for residential and light commercial hardware. Emergency jobs often require extracting broken key fragments, drilling out seized pins, or swapping to a new keyed cylinder that matches the existing strike and door dimensions. We carry various key blanks and can rekey cylinders on site when possible. For reinforced doors or metal frames we bring longer screws and reinforced strikes; for wooden doors we check the hinge screws and door fit before fitting new hardware.

Worth knowing
When a lock has been altered or multiple cylinders are involved, tell us which keys you still have and where they work. If you have a premade key set or spare, have it available; if you know the lock brand stamped on the cylinder that helps us pick parts. In East Coventry Township and nearby Kenilworth, East Vincent Township or Pottstown we treat each emergency as a technical problem to diagnose: broken components, worn tumblers, misaligned strikes, and the correct mechanical fix to restore secure operation. We keep the worksite clean and leave hardware installed to operate smoothly.
