What goes wrong
Keys snap, bolts shear, and weather corrodes cylinders; those are the calls we get as emergency locksmiths. In South Pottstown we handle broken key extraction, open seized deadbolts, and bypass jammed mortise locks without needless destruction when possible. We look at what failed: a worn tailpiece that slips, a stripped set screw, or a latch that misses a strike because the door has shifted. When picking or impressioning won't work, we remove the cylinder and replace it with a properly sized unit, sometimes rehousing the core for reuse.

What the job involves
Electronic entry problems also bring people to our phone. We replace exhausted batteries in keypad modules, reset or reprogram keyed electronic locks, and repair loose wiring on battery-powered strikes. If an actuator is stripped we swap it for a direct-drive part, and if a panic bar has sheared studs we secure it back to the stile with new fasteners. These fixes often require cutting power to the latch or removing trim, so we explain what we’ll do before we start and show you the damaged parts afterward.

Good to know
While you wait, clear a safe workspace around the door and have identification for the property owner ready. If you have multiple key blanks, a working spare key, or an old cylinder you want reused, set those out. We may need the door unlocked from the inside to check strike alignment; if someone can stand aside and open an interior door that helps. Keep children and pets away from the work area (we use small tools and metal shavings sometimes fall) and move any rugs or furniture that block access to the frame.

Worth knowing
We drive out from Havertown and bring the tools and parts for typical emergency jobs. If the hardware needs a heavier strike plate, we install one that receives a long throw bolt into solid material; if the jamb is loose we add screws that reach the framing. When rekeying is the safest option we cut new keys to the new pin stack and mark them for you. For calls from the Pottstown area or nearby Kenilworth and Stowe, we treat the job on-site: diagnosing, explaining options, and leaving the door secure when we finish.
