The buildings and the hardware
The local building stock affects what we work on. Many houses have older, solid wood entry doors with deep mortise or rim cylinders; other properties use newer slab doors with bored locksets and hollow metal storm doors. That mix means we see both long, heavy lock bodies that sit inside the door edge and lighter, stamped latch mechanisms in replacement doors. Commercial storefronts and small offices often use metal doors with surface-mounted closers and tubular latchsets, so the repair approach and fasteners are different from residential door hardware.
