The buildings and the hardware
The local building stock affects the hardware we see. You’ll find a mix of single-family houses, duplexes and some small storefronts and a few multi-unit buildings; older doors often have mortise locks, heavy cast frames, or doors that need new faceplates and longer screws to take modern deadbolts. Multi-family buildings tend to have simple latchsets with keyed entry levers that wear faster and sometimes need whole-hardware swaps rather than just a cylinder change. Storefronts and commercial entries require more robust cylinders and reinforced exits; that changes the parts we bring and the techniques we use on site.
