What goes wrong
Locks in houses fail in predictable ways: a key snaps in an old cylinder, a deadbolt bolt binds in a worn strike, a knob set turns without retracting the latch, or an exterior lever gets loose from repeated use. We see broken keys, seized cylinders corroded by weather, and electronic keypads with dead batteries or wiring faults. In Oreland those same failures show up in wood and metal doors alike. We handle the mechanical and the electronic side so you stop wrestling with the door and get the lock working as intended.

What the job involves
When we come out from Havertown we treat the lock as a mechanical system. We inspect the cylinder, bolt, strike plate, and the door hardware to decide whether a repair, cylinder swap, new keying, or full lockset replacement is the right move. We prefer non-destructive techniques, cylinder removal and rekeying, replacing worn tumblers, repinning, or installing a longer-throw bolt and heavy-duty strike when the hardware calls for it. If an electronic lock needs programming or a battery change, we work straight on the device and its wiring.

Good to know
If you’re locked out, keep a clear view of the door and gather any proof you own or live at the property so we can verify before we work. Move children and pets to a safe room and clear obstacles from the entry area so we can set up cleanly. If you have spare keys, have them ready; if you don’t, tell us what type of key or lock you have and whether you want keys cut on site. We can often make new keys or swap cylinders without sending you to a hardware store.

Worth knowing
For ongoing security at a home in Oreland or nearby Flourtown and Glenside we install and rekey residential locksets, deadbolts, padlocks and mailbox or garage door cylinders, and we program or replace electronic keypad and smart locks. We also repair latch mechanisms, replace broken keys, and fit heavy-duty strike plates and longer bolts where the door and frame will accept them. If you want to know what to expect for a specific lock, call and tell us the make and what’s sticking or broken so we can bring the right parts when we drive out.
