What goes wrong
Doors that stick, cylinders that spin without engaging, and deadbolts with broken internal cams are the kinds of residential problems we see most often. We diagnose whether the issue is wear in the cylinder, a misaligned bolt, a warped door edge, or a seized thumbturn. For Green Lane homes that still use older mortise locks or surface-mounted rim locks we inspect the bolt throw and the strike plate, check the spindle and tailpiece, and test the rekey pinning before recommending repair or replacement. We drive out from Havertown with the tools and parts needed for common fixes.

What the job involves
If you are locked out we ask you to stay calm and keep clear of any glass panels or doors that could be dangerous to work on. We may need you to confirm your identity by showing an ID and indicating which key belongs to the property; have that ready if you can. While we are on the way, try other entries like a side door or garage that uses a different lock and remove clutter from the work area so we can get to the strike and jamb without moving heavy furniture.

Good to know
When a lock is beyond simple adjustment we replace the cylinder, swap to a keyed deadbolt, or install a reinforced strike and longer screws to strengthen the jamb. We use cylinders with pin stacks that match the keyway and cut keys to fit the new core. If you want to rekey, we remove the plug, reset the pins to a new key, and check the plug rotation and shear line under torque. For older hardware we often recommend replacing worn forged components rather than repairing parts that will fail again.

Worth knowing
If you are updating locks for a recent move or a long-term security concern, tell us which doors you want keyed the same and which should remain separate. Have any existing keys, the door measurements, and the type of strike or faceplate available when we arrive; a picture sent ahead can help, especially for multi-point or mortise systems. We can work on standard knob and lever locks, deadbolts, mortise locks, and keypads or electronic cylinders, and we serve Green Lane and nearby areas such as Upper Frederick Township and Red Hill when called from our Havertown base.
