What goes wrong
We work on the locks you touch every day: deadbolts, entry knobs, mortise locks, horizontal bolt latches, and the surface-mounted chain and latch combinations older houses often still have. Common failures are sheared screws in the strike plate, worn screw threads in the knob spindle, broken cylinder tails, and jammed thumb-turns full of grit. We bring the tools and replacement parts to the house and do the work where the lock sits, assessing whether the cylinder can be rekeyed or needs replacement and whether the strike needs reinforcing or a new set of screws.

What the job involves
When a key snaps, when a deadbolt won’t retract, or when the latch keeps catching, we can extract broken bits, remove and bench the cylinder if necessary, or fit a new cylinder on site. We carry pin kits, extra cylinders, thumb-turns, and common replacement knobs and levers so we can match keyways or fit a different tailpiece length. For doors with rotted jambs we’ll recommend and install a reinforced strike and longer screws to pull the jamb into the framing for a proper bite.

Good to know
While we’re on the way, lock the parts of the house you can and avoid forcing the lock. If the key feels tight, back it out slightly instead of forcing it; if the cylinder won’t turn, leave it and don’t try to pry the door open with tools that could damage the frame. Have proof of ownership or residency ready if you’re the homeowner; this speeds identification and lets us start without needing to call you for authorization. We drive out from Havertown and do every job at the door, so having the entrance area clear of snow, debris, or parked cars helps us get straight to work.

Worth knowing
For rekeying projects, new installs, or upgrading an entry to a stronger cylinder and reinforced strike, tell us whether you want your existing keys to work across multiple locks or separate keys for each opening. If you’re in Eagleville and have a lock that uses a rim cylinder or an old mortise system, mention that when you call so we bring the correct blanks and cutters. We also handle mailbox cylinders and garage walk-through doors. If you live near Trooper or Lower Providence Township and need multiple locks changed, we can plan the job at the property and bring the drivers and hardware needed to complete all the work on site.
