What goes wrong
Locks at Darby homes fail in familiar ways: a deadbolt that won’t turn because the bolt is bound against a warped jamb, a latch that rides over a shallow strike, a broken key stuck in a cylinder, or a keypad that won’t accept codes after a battery drain. Weather swelling, paint build-up on the edge of the door, and loose mounting screws are common. We see solid, forged deadbolts, mortise locks, tubular latches and electronic levers, and we describe the actual mechanical or electrical fault so the homeowner understands what is wrong.

What the job involves
When we arrive we start with a quick inspection of the door, frame, and hardware to identify the failure mode. We attempt non-destructive entry first: tension, pick, or manipulate the mechanism; for broken keys we extract the fragment from the plug and check the rest of the cylinder. If parts are worn we re-pin or replace the cylinder, swap the deadbolt, adjust or replace the strike, and fit reinforced hardware where needed. We drive out from Havertown and do every job on-site; there is no shop to visit and no counter to meet at.

Good to know
While you wait at home please stay somewhere safe and keep children and pets away from the work area. Have photo ID and proof of residence ready if you are asking us to gain entry to a locked property; if you have existing keys bring them, and if the lock is electronic have any user codes or manufacturer details handy. Clear space beside the door for tools and parts and point out any unusual frame damage, a storm-damaged threshold, or recent carpentry work that might affect fitting a new lock.

Worth knowing
After we open or repair the lock we’ll show you the mechanism and explain the replacement options. Tell us the door thickness, backset, and whether you prefer a separate deadbolt or an integrated keyed lever; for electronic locks have fresh batteries on hand if you want us to swap them in. Keep any old keys and note the keyway shape if you want matching blanks. We work on homes across the area, including nearby Collingdale and Sharon Hill, and we fit acceptable mechanical and electronic hardware in place, on site, so the lock is ready where it mounts.
