What goes wrong
Homes call us when deadbolts stick, latch bolts crumble, or keys snap in the cylinder. We see swollen wooden doors that bind, loose strike plates that let the latch ride, and older knob sets with worn tumblers. In Chester we deal with split screws, warped faceplates, and broken thumb turns that leave people without an easy way to lock or unlock. We come with the tools to remove a seized cylinder, rekey a lock, or replace a damaged mechanism so the door operates smoothly again.

What the job involves
When a lock is failing we inspect the cylinder, the tailpiece, the spindle, and the bolt to find what’s worn or misaligned. We take the knob or deadbolt apart on site, examine the pins or wafers, and decide whether rekeying, cylinder replacement, or a full lock swap is the right fix. For older installations we check the strike and jamb for reinforcement needs and fit longer screws or a reinforced strike plate if the door frame shows wear from repeated impact.

Good to know
If you’re locked out, if the key turns but the bolt won’t extend, or if a key breaks off, we recommend staying near the entry point but out of sight of glass while you wait. We ask that you call from a phone where you can speak with us; if someone else will let us in, tell us their name and how they’re connected to the home. If there are pets on site, secure them in a room away from the work area so they don’t bolt when we open doors or drill.

Worth knowing
Before we arrive have proof of residence ready and know which door you need serviced and which key goes with it. Gather any spare keys, note if there are multiple locks on the door (deadbolt plus latch), and tell us about nonstandard hardware such as patio multipoint locks or keyed knobs. We drive out from Havertown and bring a selection of cylinders, replacement bolts, and common trim pieces so we can finish most jobs where the lock is; if a part needs ordering we’ll explain the options and leave the temporary measures safe and secure.
