What goes wrong
Most emergency calls we get start with a simple mechanical failure: a key breaks off in a cylinder, a deadbolt turns but the bolt won’t move, or a latch is jammed after a heavy door swing. We describe parts plainly (cylinders, mortise mechanisms, tubular latch assemblies, reinforced strikes, and long-throw deadbolts) because knowing what’s failed helps you decide what to have ready. If you’re in South Coventry Township, tell us which door and whether it’s metal or wood, whether glass is nearby, and if the lock has an electronic element like a keypad or a smart lock module.

What the job involves
When we come out to an emergency we bring hand tools and replacement hardware suited for the job: plug extractors, pick sets when non-destructive entry is possible, carbide drills for seized cores, and a selection of common cylinder profiles and heavy-duty deadbolts. We drive out from Havertown with a mobile kit built for field work. If a lock is mounted with long throws or reinforced plates, we carry replacement screws and strike plates so we can secure the door properly rather than leaving a temporary fix.

Good to know
While you wait, make a few things easy for us. Have the door and its frame clear of clutter, unlock any secondary locks like chain guards if you can do so safely, and have photo ID ready so we can confirm you’re entitled to entry. If there are occupants who need to remain out of the house, designate a point of contact and a safe spot to stand away from the door. If power is out and the lock is electronic, tell us whether batteries have been changed recently or if there’s a backup key option; that detail often determines our first step.

Worth knowing
This is emergency work, so our jobs often include non-destructive entry when possible, core extraction and rekeying, and fitting a replacement cylinder or deadbolt that matches the door’s hardware. We install hardened bolts, full-length strike reinforcement where the frame allows, and weather-resistant cylinders for exterior doors. If you’re in South Coventry Township or nearby North Coventry Township or Kenilworth, we’ll tell you how soon we can come when you call and we’ll head out to the address you give. We don’t have a shop counter; every job happens where the lock is.
