What goes wrong
You call because a key broke off in the cylinder, a deadbolt jammed after the bolt hit a warped jamb, the thumbturn spun without engaging, or a door was forced and the lock hardware bent. We handle cylinder locks, mortise locks, tubular deadbolts, multi-point latches, and the metal strike plates and reinforced trim around them. In Mayfair we see a lot of residential entry problems and storefront locks that bind after seasonal swelling. We carry extraction tools, replacement cylinders, and drills for cases where the core is ruined beyond extraction.

What the job involves
When you tell us what happened we ask about the lock type, whether keys are available, and whether the door is secure or partially open. We describe how soon we can get there and then drive out from Havertown with the appropriate kit. On arrival we assess the lock, try non-destructive entry first, extract broken keys, and either repair the mechanism or remove the cylinder for replacement. If the lock was forced we look at the strike, the bolt length, and the surrounding wood or metal to make the repair effective.

Good to know
While you wait stay in a safe, well-lit spot and avoid forcing the lock yourself; bending a latch or hammering can make extraction and repair harder. Have photo ID and proof of residency or ownership ready if the entry is to a residence or business, and gather any spare keys or documents about the hardware model if you know them. Clear a path to the door, secure pets, and make sure the owner or someone the owner has authorized is present. If it’s a vehicle lockout tell us the make, model, and whether the trunk or ignition are involved.

Worth knowing
After we get the door open we demonstrate the repair, show how the new cylinder or latch operates, and test every keyed point you ask us to check. When a bolt or strike is damaged we’ll fit a longer throw bolt or a reinforced strike plate and back that with new screws into solid framing where needed. We carry common parts for residential and commercial locks and can rekey a set, replace cores, or fit a more robust latch if the situation calls for it. We’ve been working on locks for more than 13 years and serve Mayfair and nearby corners of Northeast Philadelphia.
