What goes wrong
We handle emergency lock calls in Malvern and the surrounding area the same way we would any urgent mechanical failure: we first assess what has physically failed and what access you have. Common problems we see are snapped keys in a cylinder, a deadbolt that has sheared off, latchbolt assemblies that bind, and electronic fobs or keypad modules that stop responding. We look at the cylinder, the bolt throw, the strike plate and the door frame to decide whether we can pick or bypass the mechanism without cutting hardware, or whether the cylinder or lock body must be removed and replaced.

What the job involves
When a key breaks or a cylinder is jammed we try non-destructive entry first: lock picking, plug turning tools, shimming a latch, or using a tension wrench and extractor on a snapped key. If the cylinder is corroded or the tailpiece has failed we will take the cylinder out and either rekey the core or fit a new cylinder or mortise. For electronic locks we check batteries, wiring and the module connections before replacing parts. We carry common cylinders, deadbolts, reinforced strikes and keypad modules so we can often repair on the spot.

Good to know
While you wait for us, find a safe place off the porch or street and keep any children or pets away from the door. Have a government ID and something that shows you control the property (a lease, utility bill, vehicle registration or similar document) ready on your phone or paper. If the lock is on a business door, have proof of employment or an ID badge available. If there are alarm codes or gate codes that matter to access, note them so we can test entry after we work on the lock. If the situation is dangerous, contact local authorities first and tell us when it is safe for us to come.

Worth knowing
We drive out from Havertown to Malvern and bring the tools that let us fix most mechanical and electronic failures where they happen. If a deadbolt has a long throw but the strike is split or the frame has gaps, we will fit a reinforced strike and longer screws, then tune the latch and the door alignment. If a keypad has lost memory we’ll replace the module or reprogram it and pair a new fob if needed; bring any existing fobs and the lock model information when you can. For jobs in Paoli and nearby townships we follow the same approach: diagnose, secure the opening, and fit hardware that works with the existing door and frame.
