What goes wrong
We handle the calls that come in when a door won’t open, a key breaks in a cylinder, or a deadbolt refuses to turn. Those problems are usually mechanical: a worn key, a broken tailpiece, a seized spring in a knob assembly, or a misaligned latch and strike after the door has been moved. We drive out from Havertown with picks, plug spinners, replacement cylinders and bolts, and clamps and drills for more stubborn failures. In Lionville we work on wood and metal doors, aluminum storefronts and hollow-core interiors the same way we do everywhere else.

What the job involves
An emergency job often begins with assessment at the door: we look for a compromised cylinder, a sticking bolt, a missing strike, or damage around the frame that stops the lock from engaging. If the key is broken we remove the fragment and inspect the keyway for burrs before fitting a new blank. If the lock is damaged beyond simple repair we cut out the cylinder or remove the knob and fit a direct replacement, transferring any existing strike or reinforced plate so the door keeps its alignment.

Good to know
While you wait we recommend a few practical steps. Keep clear of the door swing and remove any children or pets from the immediate area. If the key is visible through a cracked cylinder, keep your hands off it to avoid pushing fragments deeper. If the door is damaged and won’t latch, secure a nearby window or interior door and gather proof of ownership if you can, a mail with the address, a lease, or a photo ID. When you call we’ll tell you how soon we can come and what tools we’ll need to bring.

Worth knowing
Have these things ready when we get there: a clear picture of the problem on your phone if possible, the key or remaining key fragments, and any hardware you want re-used like the strike plate or knob roses. If the door has multiple locks let us know which ones should remain keyed alike. For commercial jobs such as aluminum storefronts or panic bars we’ll need to see the interior hardware and the frame so we can plan replacements or reinforcement. We work throughout Chester County and neighboring townships, and we’ll fit the right mechanical fix for the hardware in front of us.
