The buildings and the hardware
Buildings in this area often bring a mix of hardware challenges. You’ll see older wood doors and mortise locks that need parts or adjustment, modern pre-hung doors with bored cylindrical locks and reinforced deadbolts, and multi-unit entry hardware that requires master-keying or compatible cylinders. Storefronts and small commercial entries typically use heavy-duty cylindrical locks or panic hardware and sometimes flush-mounted exit devices. That variety changes the parts and tools we carry: spare mortise parts, a range of cylinder sizes, longer bolts for retrofit deadbolts, and hardware suitable for metal storefront doors as well as wood residential frames.
