What goes wrong
Locks fail in a few predictable ways: a cylinder that stops turning, a deadbolt with a bent or broken tailpiece, a key that shears off in the warding, or the latch spring that loses tension and won’t retract cleanly. We see worn keys that no longer engage all the pin stacks and exterior knobs that spin without engaging the bolt. For emergency calls in Glenside we expect these mechanical faults more often than electrical ones, but we handle both. When you call, we explain what part of the mechanism is causing the problem and what we can do on the spot.

What the job involves
On arrival we work where the lock is (on the door, on the frame, or at the door’s edge), and we bring the tools to remove and inspect the cylinder and bolt. We drill only when extracting a broken key or when a cylinder is seized beyond repair, and we prefer to rekey or replace a plug, install a new cylinder, or repair the tailpiece and strike plate so the bolt throws smoothly into a reinforced strike. We carry replacement hardware for common knob, lever, and deadbolt types and will fit a new key on the job.

Good to know
While you wait we ask that you stay nearby if it’s safe and that you have ready proof of residency or ownership for the property so we can verify you are authorized to get in. We also ask you to point out any recent damage to the door or frame, show us the existing key if you have one, and tell us whether the door has an auxiliary locking device, chain, or smart lock module. If the lock is on an entry that opens onto a shared hallway, letting us know who else has keys can change how we approach rekeying.

Worth knowing
We drive out from Havertown and work across Montgomery County and neighboring areas like Jenkintown when needed. After we make the opening or repair, we test the bolt walk, check alignment with the strike, and verify that keys operate both directions without binding. If a new cylinder or set of keys is required we cut and test the key, then walk the bolt several times under normal door pressure to confirm the strike and hinges are cooperating. We leave the hardware functioning and we explain how to avoid the same failure repeating.
