What goes wrong
When a lock fails in an emergency in East Norriton Township (a snapped key in a cylinder, a deadbolt that won’t retract, or a latch jammed by a swollen door), we come to the problem rather than you coming to us. We work on solid mortise locks, tubular deadbolts, knob and lever sets, and reinforced strikes. We carry picks, extractors, and replacement cylinders suited to the hardware on the door. We assess whether the cylinder can be extracted and rekeyed or whether the lock needs to be replaced on the spot.

What the job involves
If a broken key is the issue we will extract the shaft and inspect the tail of the key and the tumblers. For a seized deadbolt we examine the bolt, the long throw, the tailpiece and the strike to see whether the bolt can be persuaded back into the door or whether the mechanism is damaged and should be swapped. When a rim cylinder or padlock has been compromised we cut away the corroded metal and fit a new cylinder or a new shackle assembly as appropriate.

Good to know
While you wait we need a few practical things from you: a clear description of the door (wood or metal, in-swing or out-swing), whether it’s a reinforced frame, and whether there are additional locks or electronic hardware attached. Have an ID and something that shows you live or work at the address ready; if you are handling a business lock have the name on the lease or a company card. We drive out from Havertown and we tell you how soon we can be there when you call.

Worth knowing
Some emergencies are caused by failed hardware, some by previous poor installations. If a strike is twisted or the frame is split we may fit a longer strike or reinforce the jamb with steel; if the tailpiece is sheared we fit a new tailpiece and rekey the cylinder to match your remaining keys. For electronic or keypad locks we check the battery pack and the mechanical backup; if the keypad fails we can bypass the electronics and operate the lock mechanically then advise on a repair or replacement that suits the door and the level of use.
