What goes wrong
We respond to commercial lock problems that show up in many different ways: a panic bar that drags and fails to retract, a cylinder that turns without operating the latch, keys that shear off in a mortise lock, or a keypad that refuses to accept codes. We drive out from Havertown to West Chester and nearby townships when a business calls. On arrival we assess the door, the frame, the strike, and the hardware mounting to determine if the fault is mechanical wear, a broken cam, a bent tailpiece, or wiring fault in an electronic unit.

What the job involves
We work on exit devices, panic bars, heavy-duty rim and mortise locks, door closers, strikes and reinforced strikes, and access control components including keypads and electronic strikes. The job often involves removing the trim to inspect the mechanism, testing the cylinder and tailpiece, measuring backset and door thickness for replacement parts, and, with electronic systems, checking power and signal at the lock. We carry common cylinders and parts and bring tools for drilling, rekeying, and adjusting or replacing latches and strike plates.
03
Good to know
While we work, businesses should secure occupants and keep traffic away from the door being serviced. If an exit device or panic bar is involved, the safest practice is to use an alternate exit and to post temporary signage until the device is restored. We may need an employee with building access to operate interior alarms, hold doors open, or supply keys and keycards for testing. Have any existing master key charts, current keycards, and a labeled set of cores or cylinders available to speed identification and reduce repeated testing.
04
Worth knowing
We can establish or extend master key systems, rekey groups of cylinders, install keypad or card readers, or replace worn cylinders and strike plates to restore consistent operation across a facility. We document which cylinders and cores we remove and note door orientation, hand, and measurable details like hole preparation and backset so replacements fit cleanly. If you are in West Chester or nearby West Goshen Township or Westtown Township, tell us which doors are affected, what keys or cards you have on hand, and whether the work requires after-hours access arrangements; we do not meet at a shop; every job happens where the lock is.
