What goes wrong
Keys left inside, a snapped key in the ignition, a fob that stopped communicating, or a trunk that won’t unlatch; those are the common ways people call us from West Chester. Sometimes a bent key still turns; other times a broken blade has jammed the cylinder. We describe what’s wrong in concrete terms: which part isn’t moving, whether the key shoulder fractured, or whether the electronic fob shows a light when pressed. That tells us whether we can get the door open without cutting anything or whether extraction and replacement are needed.

What the job involves
On arrival we do a quick, physical assessment of the lock and surrounding trim, then choose a method that keeps the vehicle intact. We carry picks and tension tools for mechanical cylinders, long-reach tools for door release mechanisms, specialized extractors for broken keys, and diagnostic tools for fob and keyless-entry modules. If a lock cylinder is seized we can drill only as a last resort and replace the tumbler. We drive out from Havertown and bring the tools to work on the vehicle where it sits.

Good to know
While you wait, sit in a safe spot off the curb and have proof of ownership and a photo ID ready so we can verify you’re the owner before we begin. Tell us the vehicle’s make, model, and year, whether the key is a metal blade or a chip-equipped key, and where the key was last seen. If the fob has indicator lights or the dash shows a key symbol, note that for us. Clearing a few feet around the vehicle and removing pets or children from the work area helps us get the door open without obstruction.

Worth knowing
After entry we inspect the lock and keyway and report what needs attention: a worn tumbler can be rekeyed or replaced, a broken blade can be extracted and a new key cut, and a fob may only need a battery or require reprogramming. We can fit a new cylinder or ignition tumbler on site, lubricate moving parts, and recommend hardware that’s solid and built to last. We are a mobile service only; there’s no shop to visit. We also serve nearby townships such as West Goshen Township when customers need on-site car lock work.
