What goes wrong
Commercial doors fail in a few predictable ways: cylinders shear, mortise locks seize, panic bars stick, and electric strikes lose their strike alignment. We diagnose what is actually binding or worn and decide whether a cylinder swap, latch adjustment, or strike reinforcement is the right fix. For storefronts, we inspect the face of the door, the threshold, and the reinforced strike plate; for interior office doors we check the spindle, tailpiece, and whether the door closer is affecting latch engagement. We drive out from Havertown to carry the parts and tools the job needs.

What the job involves
When an exterior keypad or proximity reader stops recognizing badges or codes, the fault can be the reader, wiring, or the controller's power source. We test the supply, the wiring at the door, and the controller outputs before replacing hardware. For electric strikes and magnetic locks we look for loose terminals, corroded contacts, or a chafed cable. If you use an access control panel, have the panel location and power details ready, plus any spare fuses or batteries you keep on site; that helps us identify whether to field-replace a component or adjust wiring.

Good to know
For master key work we examine the existing keying: are there pinned cylinders, interchangeable cores, sectional cores, or restricted keyways? We check the key cuts, the control keys you currently carry, and whether cylinders are threaded or screw-in. If you have a key plan, bring it or a photo; if pins are worn we can re-pin or replace cylinders. If a storage or mechanical room is secured by a long-throw deadbolt or a reinforced deadlatch, tell us which door and what keys you have so we can match blanks and prepare the correct driver set before we start.

Worth knowing
If a door is out of service or a latch won't hold, secure the area and keep employees clear of the door while we work. While waiting, gather anything that documents the hardware: a photo of the face of the lock, the edge of the door showing latch type, and any existing keys or badge samples. For jobs in Upper Merion Township and nearby towns like King of Prussia we will explain whether the work is a mechanical repair, a cylinder swap, an exit device adjustment, or an access-control wiring fix before moving forward, and we bring replacement cylinders, headless bolts, and common strike plates with us.
