What goes wrong
Commercial buildings bring a different set of lock problems than homes. We see latch bolts that are sheared by heavy doors, exit devices that stick because the tailpiece is bent, keyed cylinders frozen from dirt and wear, and access-control keypads that fail to respond after power hiccups. In Montgomeryville offices we commonly handle storefronts, interior suite doors and warehouse roll-up locks. When you call we’ll tell you how soon we can come. We drive out from Havertown with parts and tools so we can diagnose and begin work on site.

What the job involves
A typical commercial call starts with a quick walk-through to check door alignment, strike reinforcement and the condition of the cylinder or exit hardware. We look at the bolt travel, the dogging mechanism on panic bars, the rotor tailpiece engagement and any broken screws or mounting plates. If an access-control unit is involved we test power, wiring and the reader; for card systems we verify whether the lock is a maglock, electric strike or an electrified mortise so we can bring the correct replacement parts and spares.

Good to know
While we work you can secure the area and, if keys or codes are involved, limit access to essential staff only. We’ll ask for the person who can authorize changes to keys or access rights and for any existing key lists or floor plans showing master key groupings. If the door needs temporary securing we’ll fit a reinforced strike or temporary cylinder. For keypad or card updates have a list of personnel to add or remove and any current programming codes available so we can load them on site.

Worth knowing
For planned projects like installing a master key system, swapping out cylinders across a suite, or fitting new exit devices and door closers we measure door thickness, backset and handing, inspect frame reinforcement needs, and note the type of hardware currently installed. We keep replacement cylinders, mortise locks, padlocks, panic bar components and electric strikes on the truck so common swaps are possible without another visit. If you’re in Montgomery Township, Lansdale or North Wales and need commercial lock work, we serve those areas as well from our Havertown base.
