What goes wrong
Commercial buildings bring a different set of lock problems than houses. We fix commercial cylindrical locks, mortise locks, exit devices and heavy-duty deadbolts that have been kicked, shimmed or worn by high traffic. We commonly realign reinforced strikes, replace broken spindle parts in panic bars, rebuild latches and swap out worn key cylinders. If an electric strike or keypad fails, we test the power feed and the control wiring on site. For work in Lower Salford Township we drive out from Havertown and do the mechanical and electromechanical troubleshooting where the hardware lives.

What the job involves
When a business calls about a stuck or sloppy key, we isolate the issue before doing anything invasive. We pull core pins to inspect wear, try a non-destructive cylinder extraction when the key snaps, and only drill when a cylinder is seized beyond repair. With access control problems we bench-test replacement modules and verify signal continuity at the door. For storefronts and tenant spaces in and around Lower Salford Township we document what we found and explain the physical parts that failed so the manager understands the fix.

Good to know
While we’re working, the safest thing for staff is to keep a clear path to the affected door and, if applicable, to use another entrance until we finish. If the door secures a walk-in area or a suite, have whoever controls that space ready to show access policy and any master keys or keycards so we can verify lock codes and cut new keys to match. For sites with alarm panels or camera systems, notify your monitoring company before we handle electrified hardware so they know service is underway. We always get physical control of the lock itself before changing components.

Worth knowing
For planning larger projects (master key systems, new access-control installations, or multiple exit devices), we lay out exactly what we’ll replace and the physical hardware we recommend: heavy forged deadbolts, long-throw latches, reinforced strikes and full-width exit devices or compatible electromagnetic locks paired with door closers. We cut and code cylinders on site when practical, and we mount new keypads and run low-voltage wiring through existing chases when possible. If you’re in Harleysville, Kulpsville or Franconia Township and need commercial lock work, we drive from Havertown to do the hands-on work where the doors are.
