What goes wrong
Commercial front doors and interior office doors wear out in ways home locks do not. We see exit devices with bent latches, panic bars with broken arms, cylindrical locks that have been wrenched, and deadbolts whose long throw has been shortened by a failing strike. Glass storefronts often have mortise or rim cylinders that stick from dirt and heavy use. In Kulpsville and across Montgomery County, we replace worn parts, fish broken keys, rekey cores, and swap cylinders so the door operates smoothly and the lock retracts and deadlocks correctly.

What the job involves
When a commercial door won’t latch or an exit device jams, we check hinge condition, jamb alignment, and the strike first. We remove trim to inspect tailpieces, linkages, and the lock body, then test the latch travel and lever return. For access control and keypad systems we pull power leads, test the relay, and verify the strike receives voltage. If a door closer is maladjusted we set sweep and latch speeds and test the door under normal use. We drive out from Havertown with the tools and parts we expect to need for shop-door hardware and office suites.

Good to know
While we work, it helps if someone on site can control foot traffic and keep the swing path clear. For suite doors, have a staff contact ready who knows which keys should open which doors and who can confirm master key levels if you have a system. If access control panels or keypad codes are involved, have the account or admin information available so we can verify settings. For storefronts or warehousing, clear the threshold area and remove debris so we can get to the strike and sill without delay.

Worth knowing
Prepare a few things before we arrive: identify which doors are problem doors, note whether the issue happens locked, unlocked, or both, and gather any existing keys or key cards. If you have cabinet locks, file cabinets, or a master key list, bring that too. For larger projects, have a decision-maker available to approve swapping a cylindrical lock for a mortise, adding a reinforced strike, or installing an electric strike for access control. We also work in nearby Lansdale and Towamencin Township when commercial clients want consistent hardware across multiple properties.
