What goes wrong
Homes in Village Green-Green Ridge bring a steady mix of lock problems we see across Delaware County: deadbolts that won’t throw because the bolt binders are out of alignment, worn cylinder pins that make a key stick, knob sets whose internal springs have failed, and storm or patio doors with rotted frames that prevent the lock from seating. We work on solid deadbolts, mortise locks, rim cylinders, mailbox cams and sliding-door hardware. When components are visibly broken or the bolt won’t extend, we look at the mechanism first, then the door and frame.

What the job involves
When we get to a house we drive out from Havertown and start with diagnostics so you know what part is at fault. That can mean disassembling a cylinder to inspect the pins, removing a lock from the door to check backset and tailpiece alignment, or pulling the strike to examine the jamb. If a lock is salvageable we clean and lubricate, replace small internal parts or rekey the cylinder. For replacements we fit a new lock, adjust the strike if necessary, and reinforce it or add a longer deadbolt throw where the frame will accept it.

Good to know
While you wait it helps to clear the work area and secure pets and children away from the door so we can remove trim and set plates safely. Have the key or keys you normally use ready and, if there are extra sets hidden elsewhere, tell us where so we can confirm which key aligns to which cylinder. If you rent, get your landlord’s permission or paperwork nearby. If the door sticks when closed, leave it unlatched so we can pull it into true position for testing.

Worth knowing
Before we start, gather what you can: the existing keys, a photo of the lock face or any markings on the cylinder, the door material and thickness, and whether the frame has an existing reinforced strike or metal plate. Tell us whether the lock is part of a keyed-alike set, or if you want different keys for different doors. We cover residential calls across Delaware, Chester and Montgomery counties and can also reach nearby towns like Brookhaven. Call and we’ll tell you how soon we can come and what to expect on arrival.
