What goes wrong
We handle the usual residential lock problems: broken keys stuck in a knob or deadbolt, cylinders that spin without engaging the bolt, jammed latch mechanisms, and damaged strike plates from repeated force. We repair or replace interior knob sets, deadbolts with long-throw bolts, rim locks on older doors, and mailbox or patio door cylinders. If a key snaps, we extract the broken section and assess the cylinder. In Londonderry Township we also encounter wooden doors with recessed mortises that need the case refitted or a reinforced strike installed to restore proper alignment.

What the job involves
When we come out from Havertown we bring hand tools, pinning kits for rekeying, a selection of cylinders and replacement levers, and the compressed-air and extractor tools used for stuck keys. We can rekey a lock to match an existing key, replace a worn cylinder, or fit a solid replacement deadbolt and strike plate. We will explain whether the existing hardware is repairable or whether a new cylinder and hardened screws are a better mechanical solution for the door and frame you have.

Good to know
While you wait, stay where you can see the door and keep the area clear so we can work. If there are children or pets, secure them away from the entry and the workspace. Have identification and proof of residence handy so we can match the lock to the right dwelling if there is any question. Also gather any keys that go with the lock, any paperwork showing prior work on that door, and clear away furniture or rugs that might be in the way of the frame or threshold.

Worth knowing
For installations and upgrades we look at the door edge, the condition of the mortise or bore hole, and the strike in the jamb; thin or hollow metal doors often need different fasteners than solid wood. We can swap cylinders, cut new keys on site, or replace the latch and reinforce the jamb with longer screws and a heavy strike. Customers in nearby Penn Township or West Marlborough Township have had us replace warped keeper plates and adjust latch backsets; in Londonderry Township we do the same assessment and explain the mechanical tradeoffs before we start.
