What goes wrong
We work on the common failures homeowners call about in Hatfield Township: a deadbolt that sticks when the bolt is extended, a knob whose spindle has sheared, a jamb with splintered wood around a strike, or a front-door keyed cylinder that refuses to turn. We inspect what’s actually happening (the cylinder, tailpiece, bolt, and strike) then decide if repair or replacement is safer. Often the problem is worn pin stacks, a bent cam, or a misaligned strike rather than the whole lock, and we show you the parts before we proceed.

What the job involves
When we arrive, we bring replacement cylinders, mortise and tubular latch sets, longer screws for reinforcing strikes, and the drivers and picks needed for non-destructive entry whenever possible. We drive out from Havertown and work on the lock in place: we take the trim off, test the spindle and bolt travel, and measure backset and door thickness for a correct fit. If the door frame is split we add a metal strike plate and longer fasteners so the bolt bears on solid wood or metal.

Good to know
While we work you should keep children and pets away from the door and have the keyset and any existing paperwork ready, old receipts, a manufacturer’s key code card, or the key blank if you want the new cylinder keyed to an existing key. If you don’t have the keys, tell us what kind of cylinder it is and whether you need all the locks keyed alike. We also need to see the strike and the inside of the door so we can determine whether reinforcing or re-casing the latch pocket is needed.

Worth knowing
For upgrades and security options we replace thin stamped plates with a thicker, forged strike and use long wood screws that reach the stud behind the jamb. We can fit a new deadbolt with a solid one-piece tailpiece, swap a worn knob for a heavy-duty tubular latch, or enlarge the strike opening for a larger bolt. If you live near Montgomeryville or Hatfield Borough and want heavier hardware, tell us which door and whether the frame is metal or wood so we bring the correct parts and hardware for the job.
