What goes wrong
We get calls for a lot of things someone would call an emergency: keys broken off in a cylinder, a deadbolt that won’t turn after a storm, doors kicked in during a break-in, or a thumb latch jammed so the bolt won't retract. Often the issue is a snapped key, a worn cylinder binding on the plug, or a bent latch that catches on a warped jamb. We drive out from Havertown to wherever the lock sits and work on the hardware in place, not at a counter.

What the job involves
On arrival we start with a quick visual and mechanical check to decide what to try first. If a key is broken we extract the shank and inspect the plug; if the cylinder is ruined we remove it and fit a replacement. We can rekey a cylinder, cut a new key on site, replace a deadbolt or fit a reinforced strike, and in cars we can extract, decode, or cut a transponder blank when possible. We use picks, extractors, drills as a last resort, and metal files and torque tools for stubborn bolts.

Good to know
While you wait, keep safety and access in mind. If a child, a pet or anyone who needs help is locked in the car, your first step is to call 911. Have photo ID and something that proves you live there or own the vehicle; that speeds paperwork and prevents unnecessary delays. If you can, find any spare key, note whether the existing lock has a removable cylinder or a keyed thumbturn, and take a quick photo of the strike and bolt head; that helps us decide what parts to bring.

Worth knowing
For parts and tools, we carry common cylinders, keyed knob cores, long-throw deadbolts, strike plates, a range of key blanks, and extraction kits and portable cutting gear. If a lock needs a heavier strike or a longer bolt we fit hardened hardware on the spot and file the strike to match. We handle emergency calls across Tinicum Township and nearby towns like Folcroft and Norwood, and when you call we’ll explain what we can do and what we need from you to get the door secure.
