What goes wrong
We handle emergency lock problems that come up at odd times: broken key shanks stuck in a cylinder, mortise locks with jammed bolts, deadbolts with sheared screws, and vehicle locks that refuse to turn. When a deadbolt has a bent tailpiece or a latch has a mangled faceplate we cut away the damaged parts, extract whatever is left of the key, and replace the internal mechanism or the whole lock if the case is torn. In Bethel Township we see the usual mix of rim locks, cylindrical door locks, and heavy exterior deadbolts on metal and wood doors.

What the job involves
On site we assess what failed and what can be repaired in place. We open the door without forcing the frame when possible, using pick tools, plug spinners, and controlled extraction for broken keys. If the lock body is distorted we remove it, check the strike and jamb, and fit hardware that matches the door thickness and backset. We carry a range of cylinders, tubular latches, and keyed deadbolts so we can swap parts rather than leave a temporary rig. We drive out from Havertown for jobs across Delaware County.

Good to know
While you wait, keep the door and surrounding area clear and secure. If the key is broken, bring any fragments you can find and point out where the break occurred; a piece of the head or the threaded collar helps identify the keyway. If the door has recent damage, snap clear photos and set them aside for reference. Have proof of ownership ready if the situation requires it; we usually need to confirm you have authority to have work done on the lock before we proceed.

Worth knowing
We also handle vehicle lockouts and ignition key problems that turn into emergencies. For locked cars we check whether the locking mechanism is a wafer, wafer-tumbler, or pin cylinder and use non-destructive entry when the hardware allows; if the ignition cylinder has a worn key pattern we extract and replace the cylinder and cut a new key on site. In Bethel Township and nearby Boothwyn we explain the repair options: replace the cylinder, re-pin a new core to match your existing key, or install a new keyed-alike set so multiple locks work with one key.
