What goes wrong
When a child or a pet is shut inside the vehicle, call 911 first. We see every kind of pull and catch on metal and plastic: worn wafer locks, hardened deadbolts on older cargo vans, bent latch forks, and jammed trunk catches. In Edgmont Township we work on whatever’s on the vehicle, not the paperwork, and we bring the right tools for the hardware in front of us.

What the job involves
When we work a lockout we start by assessing access points and the lock mechanism rather than forcing a door. We use air wedges and non-destructive long-reach tools when the lock and glass allow; when a key is broken we extract the shaft with precision grips and sometimes a small extractor. If the ignition cylinder is damaged we can remove and replace it or cut a new blade from the key code. We keep the action mechanical and straightforward, matching tool to part.

Good to know
While we drive out from Havertown you can help the job go smoothly by staying with the vehicle when it’s safe and having paperwork ready: the vehicle registration or title and a photo ID showing the name on that paperwork. If the car uses a transponder key bring any spare fob you have and note any recent battery changes. If the key snapped, tell us where it broke and whether you still have the head or pieces. Clear, precise information about the key and what happened saves a lot of back-and-forth when we get there.

Worth knowing
We replace or cut keys on site when the blank and electronics match the car’s systems, and we can extract bent or seized keys from ignitions and door cylinders without drilling in many cases. If a remote needs reprogramming we can handle that for the vehicle models we stock parts for, or we’ll make a secure temporary solution until a dealer part can be sourced. We also work in nearby towns such as Middletown Township and Willistown Township when customers call from those routes into Edgmont Township.
