What goes wrong
Cars lock out for a handful of predictable mechanical and user reasons: keys left on the seat, keys broken off in the ignition, a latch that sticks after corrosion, a trunk that won’t release, or a fob that stopped sending a signal. Modern cars add electronic failure to the list, dead fob batteries or a car that won’t recognize a transponder. In Thornbury Township we see all of these. We describe the specific fault when we arrive so you know whether the problem is the metal key, the cylinder, the electronic fob or a linkage that needs adjusting.

What the job involves
When we work on a locked car we start with a visual inspection of the door, lock cylinder and any signs of damage to glass or frame. We prefer non-destructive entry: wedges to create a gap, long-reach tools to manipulate the latch, or traditional picks for exposed cylinders. If a key is broken we extract the fragment with extraction tools and, if needed, cut a new metal key from the remaining piece or the VIN information. For fobs we test battery and signal and, when possible, reprogram or supply a replacement fob on the spot. We drive out from Havertown and bring the toolset suited to most makes and models.

Good to know
While you wait we recommend a few practical steps that speed the job and keep everyone safe. Stay near the vehicle if that is secure; move children and pets into a safe place away from traffic. Have the vehicle registration and photo ID ready on your person so we can confirm ownership. If you think a spare key might be at home or with someone nearby, call them so it can be retrieved.

Worth knowing
Have these items ready when we arrive: your driver’s license or other photo ID, the vehicle registration or title, and any spare key or fob you already own. If you have the dealer key code, a written spare fob, or a printed copy of the VIN it helps us make a replacement on site. Remember we are a mobile service operating from Havertown with no storefront; every job happens where the lock is. We work throughout the county and frequently in neighboring areas such as Westtown Township and Chester Heights, so tell us exactly where you are parked and the best number to reach you.
