What goes wrong
Cars get locked for a few practical reasons: keys left on the seat, a key that snaps off in the ignition, a fob that stops communicating, or a trunk latch that sticks and traps a spare. We see mechanical failures too, worn tumblers, a bent key blade that won’t turn, or a weather-swollen door that won’t latch. In Bryn Athyn we deal with a range of makes and ages, from older mechanical locks to vehicles that use a combination of a physical key and an electronic immobilizer. We keep the description concrete so you know what we’re fixing.

What the job involves
When we arrive we start by identifying how the lock or key has failed and what access method will do the least harm. We prefer non-destructive entry: manipulating the lock, using a wedge and a long-reach tool to reach a manual lock release, or extracting a broken key with purpose-made extractors. If the key is lost or the ignition damaged we can cut a new key on site from the lock or the key code, or remove and replace a damaged barrel. For modern cars that rely on a fob we can test the transponder, replace a dead physical key blade, or work with the immobilizer circuits to restore operation.

Good to know
While we’re en route you can help the job proceed smoothly by gathering proof of ownership and your photo ID, and by noting the car’s year, make, model and VIN if you have it nearby. If there’s a spare key inside the vehicle tell us that detail up front. Stay nearby and in a safe place rather than leaving the scene; we’ll need you to confirm ownership and to cycle any doors or releases during the process. In Bryn Athyn and nearby areas we do the work at the vehicle; there’s no counter and no shop visit.

Worth knowing
Have these things ready when you call: your registration or title, a photo ID, and any spare key or key code label you have at home. Tell us whether the vehicle uses a removable key blade, a folding key, or a push-button fob so we bring appropriate cutters and programmers. We operate as a mobile service and drive out from Havertown to Montgomery County addresses; if you’re between Bryn Athyn and Willow Grove or coming from Upper or Lower Moreland Township, mention that so we know how to get to the car.
