What goes wrong
We work on the kinds of residential locks that give people trouble: swollen wood binding a deadbolt, a wafer-style knob that keeps jamming, a mortise lock with a broken tailpiece, or a latch that no longer catches because the strike is loose. We carry replacement deadbolts, knob sets, mortise parts, reinforced strikes and longer screws so we can repair or replace the actual hardware rather than tinker. If you have a broken key stuck in a lock or a lock that turns but won’t retract the bolt, those are the problems we see most.

What the job involves
When you call, we tell you how soon we can come, and we travel from Havertown to the job. On arrival we inspect the door, jamb, strike, screws and the lock cylinder to decide whether to repair or replace parts. We pick the option that restores proper engagement between the bolt and the strike and that fits the door’s thickness and prep. Work can include rekeying the cylinder, drilling out a seized cylinder and fitting a new keyed cylinder, swapping a knob for a lever, or upgrading the strike and reinforcing the jamb.

Good to know
While we work, it helps if you stay nearby and identify which keys are supposed to operate the lock and which are spares. If you’re locked out we ask that you confirm ownership or residency and be prepared to show ID so we can proceed without holding things up. If doors are painted over or the hardware is corroded we may need access to interior trim or to remove screws that have been painted; having a small area cleared around the lock and a comfortable spot to stand makes the job smoother for both of us.

Worth knowing
For homes in Morton we handle common door types: solid wood exterior doors, metal doors, fiberglass doors with commercial-style deadbolts, and older doors with mortise hardware. We carry replacement cylinders and key blanks for most residential systems and we can rekey multiple locks to a single key if you want fewer keys on your ring. We also do simple security fixes like longer screws for the strike and steel plate reinforcement. If you’re in a nearby town such as Springfield or Rutledge and want to know what to have ready, call and we’ll explain what’s useful to have on hand.
