What goes wrong
We handle the common residential failures: keys that shear in the cylinder, deadbolts that bind or won’t retract, warped door edges that cause latches to miss the strike, and knob sets with loose spindles. Often the problem is wear on the internal cam or a broken tailpiece inside a lock body. We carry replacement cylinders, tubular deadbolts, and reinforced strike plates so we can match the hardware to the door. If a key snaps we extract the broken piece and test the cylinder for hidden damage before deciding on repair or replacement.

What the job involves
When we arrive at a house in Elverson we assess the door, jamb, and lock from the outside and inside where possible. For a malfunctioning deadbolt we check the bolt throw, the alignment of the strike, and the condition of the lock cams and tailpiece. For entry without a key we use non-destructive entry methods when the lock allows, and when the lock is compromised we remove it cleanly and fit a replacement cylinder or whole lockset that works with the existing door hardware and strike.

Good to know
While you wait for us, keep the door area clear and, if possible, open any interior doors so we can work without moving furniture. If the lock is on a glass-panel or a door with sidelights secure pets and small children away from the work area. Have identification and proof of residence ready so we can verify ownership before changing keys or rekeying. If you have spare keys, leave them visible for us; if not, tell us what kind of key blank you had so we can bring a match from our van.

Worth knowing
We drive out from Havertown and bring the tools and parts to complete most residential jobs on site. We rekey cylinders, install new deadbolts and knob sets, replace latch assemblies, and upgrade strikes to longer, reinforced models when the jamb is rotten or the bolt undercuts. For older mortise locks we can repair worn levers and wards or supply a modern cylinder conversion. If you’re outside Elverson in West Nantmeal Township or Warwick Township and need a locksmith for a house, call and we’ll explain what we’ll do and what you should have ready.
