What goes wrong
We work on the locks people use every day: deadbolts that refuse to turn, latchbolts that ride up and won’t catch, knob sets stripped at the spindle, and smart lock electronics that have lost power or need a new mounting ring. In East Nottingham Township homes we often see exterior doors with screws pulled out of the jamb and strikes that have widened the hole, so we repair or replace the strike, re-drill and reinforce the jamb, or swap to a longer-throw deadbolt when the door frame allows.

What the job involves
If you’re locked out, keep a clear path to the entry and have some ID ready so we can confirm you live there before we work on the lock. For stuck cylinders or frozen bolts leave the door alone and don’t force it; forcing can break a plug or split a forged key. While we drive out from Havertown we can talk through the problem by phone so you know whether we’ll be rekeying a cylinder, replacing the whole deadbolt, drilling a seized lock, or bypassing a latch to regain entry.

Good to know
When we rekey a house in East Nottingham Township we remove the cylinder, take the core apart, and install new pins to match a new key blank; that lets you keep the existing hardware while changing who has access. For replacements we look at the door thickness, the backset, and whether the door has metal reinforcement and strike plates; we fit long-throw bolts on solid doors and use reinforced strikes when the jamb needs support. We also address sliding glass door locks and mortise locks, aligning and lubricating the mechanism so the bolt travels cleanly.

Worth knowing
If you plan ahead, have one working key available and a clear description of which door is the problem (front, side, garage entry, mudroom) and whether the lock is a cylinder deadbolt, a mortise, a rim lock, or an electronic keypad. If you live near Oxford, Lower Oxford Township, or Elk Township and want keyed-alike locks, tell us which locks should match so we can bring compatible key blanks. We carry common cylinders, replacement deadbolts, strikes, and pick and drill tools so we can do the job where the lock is.
