What goes wrong
Most residential calls start with a simple mechanical failure: a deadbolt that won’t throw because the tailpiece is sheared, a latch that has worn its keeper and rides up on the strike, or a keyed cylinder that’s jammed with broken key fragments. We look at what the hardware actually is (tubular knob, mortise lock, single- or double-cylinder deadbolt, a reinforced strike or a jamb that’s split) then decide whether to repair the component, rekey the cylinder, or replace the whole lock in place. In Concord Township we carry common replacement cylinders and a selection of solid, forged deadbolts for homes.

What the job involves
When you call we tell you honestly how soon we can come and then we drive out from Havertown to the job. While you wait, clear an area around the door and have your identification ready along with proof of residency if the locks are on a rental; that saves a lot of back-and-forth. If a key is broken off, don’t try to dig it out with household tools; that can push fragments farther in. We bring picks, extractors, and portable machines to cut and pin cylinders on site when needed.

Good to know
Rekeying is one of the things we do most: removing the cylinder, pulling the plug, and swapping or pinning tumblers so an old key no longer works. For homeowners who’ve moved in or lost keys we can rekey multiple locks to a single key, or install a new cylinder that accepts a different key profile. If a bolt is sticking because the strike plate is recessed too shallowly or the door is sagging, we fit the new hardware, or enlarge the strike pocket and install a long-throw bolt and reinforced strike to stop levering.

Worth knowing
If you’re locked out, or replacing a lock after a break-in, stay calm and keep pets and children away from the work area. Have the key blanks, any remaining original keys, and documentation of ownership handy when we arrive; if you own the property and don’t have paperwork, a neighbor who can vouch for you or matching mailbox keys can help establish access. We also serve nearby areas such as Chester Heights and can fit hardware to existing trim so the new lock works with your door without unnecessary carpentry.
