What goes wrong
We handle lockouts and mechanical failures that leave homeowners and businesses standing at the wrong side of a door. Common problems are broken keys in a cylinder, latches that no longer retract because of warped doors or swollen frames, and deadbolts with seized internal parts. We also work on electronic keypad units where a failing battery or corroded contacts prevent the bolt from moving. In Brookhaven we see the same mix of worn brass cylinders and hardened steel bolts, and we bring the tools to extract, lubricate, or replace what’s failed so the door operates reliably again.

What the job involves
On arrival we assess the actual mechanism: rim cylinders, mortise locks, tubular latches, sliding-door lockcases, and the strike on the jamb. If a key snapped, we check how far the fragment sits in the plug before deciding between extraction and cylinder replacement. If an electric lock won’t actuate we test power and the solenoid assembly. When hardware is beyond repair we fit a like-for-like cylinder or a stronger replacement, cut and code the new key on site, and test the bolt’s full throw into the strike.

Good to know
While we’re en route from Havertown you can reduce congestion at the doorway and check simple things that often fix a problem without tools. Try turning the knob with steady pressure while someone else lifts or presses the door at the hinge side to align the latch. For keyed entries, look for debris in the keyway and clear it, and if an electronic unit has been losing power, locate the backup battery or enclosure. Keep children and pets away from work space and have ID or proof of residence ready; that speeds access and keeps the job focused.

Worth knowing
Have the right information ready when you call: whether the lock is a deadbolt, knob, lever, mortise, or keypad; whether the key broke and how much remains visible; and if the door is wooden, metal, or aluminum. For garages and sliding doors note whether the lock is a surface-mounted slide bolt or an interlocking multi-point mechanism. We don’t meet at a shop (every job happens where the lock is), so telling us the hardware type and any recent changes you made to the door helps us bring the appropriate parts and tools. We handle work across Brookhaven and nearby Parkside, Upland, Chester Township and Rose Valley.
