What goes wrong
We handle commercial lock problems that are common in and around Trooper: broken cylinder tails, jammed deadbolts, worn mortise locks, and exit devices that stop latching. We see panic bars with bent arms, keypads with water damage, and access control readers that lose communication with the controller. When a door won't close because the strike is pulled out or the edge of the door is nicked, we take the mechanical approach first, replacing worn parts, shimming strikes, or fitting a new heavy-duty latch so the hardware works as designed.

What the job involves
When we get a call about access control or a master key system, we diagnose the whole path: power to the strike or mag lock, wiring to the controller, the condition of the reader, and how the lockset and door closer interact. We check for long-throw deadbolts that bind in warped frames, inspect reinforced strikes for proper screw penetration, and confirm that exit devices operate smoothly. We work on keypads, electric strikes, magnetic locks, and door closers, and we document what components we replace or adjust for the customer’s records.

Good to know
While we work at a commercial site we ask that building staff secure the work area and, where appropriate, stand at the door to control traffic. We prefer to have a manager or contact on site who can authorize changes to access, hand over master keys or cores, and point out which doors are on alarm circuits. If a business in Lower Providence Township, Eagleville, West Norriton Township, Audubon, or Trooper has sensitive areas, we recommend isolating those spaces before we begin so we do not disrupt operations beyond the door we are servicing.

Worth knowing
We drive out from Havertown with the parts and tools we expect to need for lockouts, rekeying, or replacing hardware. We bring core removal tools, keying kits, a variety of cylinders and mortise levers, strike plates, and several types of exit device components and closers. For access control jobs we bring a multimeter, spare readers, and replacement keypads. Please have keys, existing access cards, building contact information, and any door hardware labels ready when we arrive so we can get straight to the mechanical and electrical work.
