What goes wrong
Commercial doors in Northern Liberties see a lot of wear: toilets stalls stuck, storefront lock cylinders chewed by keys, exit devices with bent bars, and door closers that slip and leave doors latching poorly. We see hardened latch bolts worn down, long-throw deadbolts with stripped turns, and strikes that have pulled away from the frame. When a lock or panic bar fails during business hours the immediate issue is securing the entry while keeping the flow of people moving. We diagnose what part of the hardware has failed and what can be repaired on site.

What the job involves
When we arrive from Havertown we bring the tools and parts that match what we find: replacement cylinders, mortise locks, reinforced strikes, long-throw deadbolts, exit devices and keypad modules. We work on the lock body, the trim, and the door frame so the latch and strike align cleanly; for access control we test the reader, the strike release and the wiring path. If the latch is sheared or the spindle is mangled we remove the trim to replace the internal mechanism and re-key the cylinder to the existing key system if requested.

Good to know
While we sort the hardware customers should secure areas they can close off and keep a responsible staff member nearby to confirm access needs and hand over keys. We will ask about which keys must continue to operate and whether a master key change is desired. Have the building key list, any existing card or fob inventory, and the name of the person authorized to approve changes ready. If doors serve multiple tenants, having a contact for tenant access reduces back-and-forth while we work on locks, strikes and exit devices.

Worth knowing
Commercial upgrades often start with a clear goal: reduce key copies, simplify who can open what, or replace worn mechanical parts with heavier hardware. We install master key systems, set up keypad and card readers, fit heavy-duty mortise locks, and replace weathered strikes and reinforce frames so doors latch solidly. For storefronts we swap cylinders and adjust trim so the key turns smoothly. For interior doors we handle cylinders, closers and panic bars. We explain what each repair or replacement involves and what operational changes to expect once keys or codes are changed.
