What goes wrong
We handle stuck exit devices and panic bars that stop latching cleanly, commercial deadbolts that shear or bind, and electric strikes that fail to release. Most problems in Fishtown storefronts and back doors are mechanical wear, broken return springs, warped latch faces, or wiring that has been pinched or exposed. We inspect the latch, strike, door edge, and frame, then decide whether to repair the existing part or replace it with a forged cylinder, heavy-duty mortise lock, or a long-throw deadbolt suited to high-traffic use.

What the job involves
When a keypad, card reader, or access control panel misbehaves we trace power and signal paths, check mounting hardware and terminal connections, and bench-test modules if needed. For door closers and delayed egress assemblies we look for worn arms, stripped gears, and fluid leaks in the closer body. If a master key system needs changes we map keying, remove obsolete cuts, and rekey cylinders or cores so the hierarchy works again. We drive out from Havertown with the tools and sample parts we commonly use for these fixes.

Good to know
If you call from a business, we’ll ask what door and what trouble so we can bring the right spares: cylinders, strikes, extra keys, a replacement closer body, or an exit device trim set. While you wait, clear the doorway and have a manager or authorized employee available to identify locks and sign for work. If the problem affects an employee entrance or stockroom, move stock and personnel away from the door until we finish, and secure sensitive areas with temporary measures if indicated.

Worth knowing
Typical commercial work also includes installing reinforced strikes, replacing rim cylinders, and upgrading plain-latch locks to heavy-duty versions that take more use. We disassemble trim, check tailpieces and follower alignment, and cut and file strikes to get a solid bolt engagement. For electric hardware we bring basic connectors and a tester so we can verify function without guessing. If the property is in Northern Liberties, Kensington, Old City, Port Richmond, or Fishtown, we treat the job the same: figure out the mechanical issue, replace or repair the faulty parts, and leave the door functioning.
