What goes wrong
Keys left inside, a key snapped in the ignition, a trunk that won’t unlatch, or a fob with a dead battery are the typical reasons people call us out for a car lockout. Cold and grime make mechanical locks stick; steering columns can lock and freeze a key even when the fob works. We see simple oversights and mechanical failures. In Ridley Park we handle both older vehicles with metal keys and newer cars that use electronic locks, and we explain what likely failed before we begin work.

What the job involves
On arrival we first verify ownership and confirm the vehicle model and year, then inspect the door, lock cylinder, and latch to pick the least destructive way in. We carry mechanical picks, wedges, long-reach tools, and lockout-specific hand tools that let us open many doors without cutting glass. If a broken key is in the cylinder we extract it and, when possible, make a replacement on site. For trunk-only lockouts we check access points and the latch mechanism to avoid unnecessary damage. We drive out from Havertown to the call location.

Good to know
While you wait it helps if you stay with the vehicle in a safe spot and have your ID and the vehicle registration or title ready so we can confirm ownership. If you have the spare key or the other fob, let us know; sometimes remote help from a passenger or family member can get the car unlocked faster. Avoid forcing the lock, wedging doors with improvised tools, or breaking glass yourself; those actions increase repair work. If you’re uncomfortable staying with the car, step to a nearby safe area and tell us where you’ll be.

Worth knowing
To prevent future lockouts consider leaving a spare key with someone you trust or carrying a slim, well-protected keycard on your person. Keep an eye on fob battery life and on mechanical key wear; bent or jagged teeth mean a snap could be coming. We can cut a replacement from a broken key or program a fob where the vehicle allows; tell us the vehicle make and year when you call so we bring appropriate equipment. We handle calls across Delaware County and nearby towns such as Folsom and Prospect Park, and we’ll describe the work before we start.
